Born in Wales and raised in his family’s kitchen sink, Rhys somehow ended up appearing on Masterchef UK before gaining experience in celebrated restaurants in London and Wales.
He’s educated in both Fine Art and Architecture from Central St Martins, Manchester School of Architecture and the Royal College of Art. He lived and worked in India, China, South Korea and the UK before starting ynys, his own architectural practice.
He has also worked in design education with the Royal College of Art and the London School of Architecture, and been an invited critic at the University of Westminster.
